Direct current (DC) is a flow of electrical charge in one direction. In contrast, alternating current (AC) changes direction periodically. Electrical appliances and equipment that use direct current have a positive and negative wire for the flow of electricity, similar to a battery-powered flashlight, which has a battery to produce electricity and a light bulb to convert electricity.
