Caulking on houses is an old practice of sealing up cracks in homes to reduce drafts. Caulkings on houses are usually done around doors and windows, but can also be used for irregular shapes or spots around the house where there may be some airflow problems.
It controls drafty areas that need to be closed to make heating and cooling temperature control efficient.
